Texas Mud Dauber Website Case Study

Project Brief

The project was to find a local small buisness and redesign their website in Dreamweaver. The goal was to bring out the good qualities of these businesses and shine a light on them through our own creativity and design choices.

Selected Business Reasoning and Description

The business that I have selected is Texas MudDauber Pottery shop, it is a small local pottery business located in La Vernia TX. Known for their fun pottery activities such as teaching anyone interested in how to spin their own pottery. I chose this business becasue I thought this would be a fun website to redesign. I felt that I could highlight the wonderful qualities the shop already had and make it better. Such as the pottery clay and it's diffrent colors and textures. I knew it would be alot of fun to play around with and see how far I could push myself in Dreamweaver.

Content Selection

For the content selection I ended up keeping some parts of the original website, some photos of their pottery I thought was well done and I even went through thier instagram to find more pottery pictures I felt would best represent them. Some images were not the best quality so I had to look outside to find images that would best fit the look and feel of the website I was going for.

Website Design

For the starting process of the website I created wireframes in XD to create the general idea of how I wanted the website to look like and how I wanted it to respond when in the mobile view. This was very helpful, I was able to refer back to this many times to make sure I was on task and was able to make some improvements aong the way.

Then starts the fun! Coding has alway been very hard for me to do in Dreamweaver but I think as this project went on I was able to become more comfortable with the program than I ever had before. I learned alot here and I am happy with the end results. Who knows, maybe in time I could go further and improve it more.

Lastly, in this assignment this was the first time I have ever done any kind of animation and I was so excited to learn and figure out how to make the backgound of the website move at my will. It was a hard start and I still have alot to learn about animation, but overal I am happy to get this far with it, for this project.,

Final Web Design

I am quite happy with the final result of the website re-design I feel like I brought out the really amazing qualities about the Texas MudDauber Pottery had and made it my own. Putting the website into mockups makes it feel more official. I also emplore you to please come and cheak out the website on your own and fully experience it yourself!

Conclusion

I am very happy with the end result, in the begining I was worried if I was going to pull off everything that I wanted to do. But I was able to bring more to it than I originally thought and I learned alot. I was also able to become more comfortable in Dreamweaver, which at the beging of the semester felt completely impossible. This assignment showed me that even though I might struggle now, I can improve tomorrow and make some really cool stuff. Thank you for coming to my case study for Texas MudDauber Pottery, see you in the next one I hope soon!
